Why this announcement matters for the kids!

All in all, it was one of the most rewarding and just plain fun times of my life. I even made one more tiny game about two other friends after that.

So I spent 11 months making an honest-to-goodness playable RPG about me and 40-some friends–all as playable characters, and many with unique skill sets. For the first time, I felt like I had complete power to make precisely the kind of RPG that I wanted to create. I literally teared up the first time I set eyes on it, because it was so much more versatile than RPG Maker on PlayStation. Years later, I would cherish even more the time that I spent with a fan translation of RPG Maker 2003 on PC. But I cherish all the time I spent making those games in middle school, fulfilling my artistic desires. Then I went on to make a trilogy of games that were impossible to beat without cheating, and they were really just a vehicle for me to tell stories about my closest friends and me.
#RPG MAKER SWITCH HOW TO#
I tinkered with it all the time, but months passed before I finally had an “ah ha!” moment and knew how to use it. But unfortunately, it was a lot harder to learn about delays in those days, and I remember being crushed when the game was nowhere in sight at Electronics Boutique on the day it was supposed to release.įortunately, the day did finally come when I got my hands on RPG Maker, and… I didn’t really understand it at first. I was shocked and elated that a video game would let me, a kid, create RPGs! I devoured every tiny detail I could about the game from Electronic Gaming Monthly, and I counted the days to its release. I still remember when RPG Maker was first announced for the original PlayStation back in the ’90s. But next, I would like to talk briefly about why RPG Maker MV for Switch is just so exciting.
#RPG MAKER SWITCH PC#
It’s uncertain at this time if the Switch version will contain all of the export features of the PC version though. For that reason, I’ve also included the trailer for the PC version below, which delves much deeper into the nitty-gritty details. It shows almost no gameplay, doesn’t talk about the game’s features at all, and just flashes lots of random boring character art on screen. Honestly, the console announcement trailer for the game is awful. In fact, this marks the first time since 2005 that an RPG Maker title has appeared on a home console. RPG Maker MV originally released for PC in 2015, but it is only now receiving a console release. RPG Maker MV is officially coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2019! This announcement comes courtesy of NIS, so the time is now for aspiring storytellers to start plotting their epic adventures.
